Who I Am

I'm Alexander Rodriguez, a cybersecurity professional driven by a mission to protect people and their data. As the son of an immigrant, I understand that opportunity isn't guaranteed rather it's earned through resilience, integrity, and relentless dedication. My leadership foundation was forged as an Army ROTC cadet at the University of Louisville, where I learned that true leadership isn't about titles. I am committed to accomplishing missions through people, and maintaining unwavering standards.

What I've Accomplished

Over three years at Global Payments, a Fortune 500 fintech leader, I've directly resolved nearly 3,000 technical issues for users across North America. But my impact goes beyond ticket metrics. I've hardened enterprise security posture by upholding least privilege access controls, enforcing secure configuration management aligned with PCI DSS standards, and training technical and non-technical employees on critical security practices like credential management and phishing awareness. I leverage PowerShell scripting and Sysmon for advanced troubleshooting, automate repetitive security tasks, and maintain deep technical proficiency across virtualization (VMware, vSphere), identity management (Active Directory), and enterprise platforms (ServiceNow, Jira, BetterCloud).

During my security operations rotation, I matured data loss prevention strategies by conducting comprehensive asset inventory across global infrastructure, enabling security analysts to triage DLP alerts more efficiently with accurate system context. I investigated potential security incidents using EDR platforms, analyzing spawned processes, network connections, file modifications, and threat intelligence to identify indicators of compromise before they escalated to more serious incidents.

As of December 2025 I have earned a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems from the University of Louisville with a 3.1 GPA, demonstrating strong academic capability and a sustained commitment to personal and professional growth. I successfully completed the program despite significant long-term challenges, reflecting resilience, perseverance, and the ability to stay focused on achieving long-term goals.

What I'm Building Toward

I'm not satisfied with reactive security, I'm committed to becoming a proactive defender. I actively develop advanced capabilities through TryHackMe and TCM Security, focusing on security monitoring, threat hunting, digital forensics, and SIEM-based threat detection. My goal isn't just to respond to alerts, it's to identify adversary tactics and techniques before they succeed, hunt threats hiding in infrastructure, and mature defensive strategies.

I'm also preparing for the future of security: studying how AI can multiply analyst effectiveness while understanding emerging threats from LLM exploitation, and positioning myself for upcoming AI security certifications from CompTIA and ISACA.
